Presumably it is carrying an egg sack. Isn't evolution wonderful?

Any spider experts?
Is anyone any good at identifying spiders? This 20mm scale beastie 'attacked' me in southern England today. (Well - when I say 'attacked' I mean that I found it on a strap on my rucksack.)

Brilliant photo :)
Same here. Even i would love the assistance of an arachnoid specialist . I found this spidey in my back yard and its mysterious. See the way it aligns its legs along the X- mark. When seen from behind the spider is not visible, only the x mark is visible. I think its a trick to fool prey into the web.
