Correcting the Ten Commandments

Correcting the Ten Commandments, Great Bedwyn, Stone Museum
Correcting the Ten Commandments
Attempting to visit the Stone Museum in Great Bedwyn today, I found this amusing plaque on the wall.

See the second line.  The notion of correcting the ten commandments seems to be a very good aspiration. The rest of the plaque is entertaining too.

I wonder what the commandments said after correction.

No doubt the correction of the ten commandments referred to the one in the 'wicked bible' where a crucial 'not' was left out from 'Thou shalt not commit adultery'.

The plaque you saw is obviously quite old since it's prices are in pounds, shillings and pence - pre 1971. Today the correction proposed for that particular verse would be 'Thou shalt not get caught committing adultery'.
