Option paralysis

It is said (although, by whom I do not know) that Einstein favoured a very limited wardrobe and although he had enough clothes for every day, they all had the same appearance.

It is also said that he made this choice to avoid 'option paralysis'.

The concept is entertaining and understandable.  The only problem is that I'm not entirely clear whether Einstein actually said it.

  2. I used to face option paralysis over socks. As well as the difficulty in deciding which pair to wear I also hated sorting them. In the end I threw out all my old socks and replaced them with ten identical pairs. No more choice and no need to sort.

My plan was ruined by my son who bought me several vividly coloured and different pairs of socks. I therefore developed plan two. Forget the sorting and just wear the first two socks picked up. Usually this results in me wearing very noticeably odd socks. Not a problem in the slightest.

    • few people notice!
    • if they do notice most are too polite to say anything.
    • If someone comments I have two options #1 is It's my age and I don't care. #2 is Today is national odd sock day. Didn't you know? Want to swap a sock?
